How we got here
Ames Porta Pros started because the owner got tired of the runaround. He'd run a construction crew and couldn't get a straight answer about toilet placement, delivery schedules or what an ADA Accessible Porta Potty actually meant on the job site. When he couldn't find a local company that treated calls like they mattered, he started one. Today we run about 80 active units in Ames and keep vehicles positioned so same-day delivery is possible for most requests.
Our fleet includes standard units with 60 to 70 gallon holding tanks, deluxe models with flushes and sinks, and ADA compliant units that meet ADA Standards section 213.2 for accessible clustering. For larger jobs, we stock 2-stall and 4-stall restroom trailers and roll-off dumpsters up to 40 yards. From 21 to 40 workers you need 1 toilet seat and 1 urinal. Scale up from there and the math gets real fast. We help crews figure out the right count before the inspector shows up.
We also understand placement. A portable toilet rental needs solid, level ground, you can't drop a unit on mud and expect it to work. Delivery requires about 60 feet of straight clearance behind the truck. Many sites in Ames don't have that, so we've learned every back-lot access, every loading dock height, and which contractors will let us stage units near their site boundaries. For festival and event restroom rental, we show up early, inspect every unit, and pull them same-day after the last guest leaves.

How do I know what size dumpster I need?
Start with the material type. Dirt and concrete are heavy. Cardboard and light demolition waste are not. We help you estimate and often recommend a smaller dumpster with a second pickup instead of oversizing. That saves money.
Can I rent a restroom trailer for a wedding?
Yes. Wedding restroom rental typically means a luxury 2-stall or 4-stall trailer with flushing toilets, running water, and climate control. Guests use it without thinking about it as portable, that's the goal.
What's included in septic pumping?
We pump the tank, haul the waste, and clean the tank opening. We don't repair or inspect beyond what pumping requires. If you see warning signs between visits, call us for an inspection.
Do I need a permit for a portable toilet on my property?
Placement in the public right of way needs confirming with the city of Ames. Call Ames city services or ask us when you request a quote.
How does handwashing meet OSHA rules?
Per 29 CFR 1910.141(d)(2), washing facilities need soap and towels or a hand drying device. Hand sanitizer alone doesn't qualify. We install stations with running water, soap dispensers and paper towel holders.
