What are we aiming for on this website?
Pages that work with a keyboard alone, text that stays readable when you enlarge it, headings that describe what follows, links that make sense out of context, and enough contrast between text and background to read the page in daylight. Images that carry meaning have text alternatives. Forms have labels that stay attached to their fields.
We build against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 at level AA.
Has this site been audited?
Not by an independent auditor. The site is checked during the build with automated tooling and reviewed by hand, which catches a good deal but not everything. If you hit something those checks missed, telling us is the fastest way it gets fixed.
What about accessibility on the job site?
That is a separate question from this website, and often the more important one. We rent ADA accessible units with a wheelchair turning space inside and a wider door, and they need a firm level approach to be usable. A unit dropped on soft ground at the end of a gravel run meets the specification and still will not work for the person who needs it.

How do I report a barrier?
Call Ames Porta Pros on the number shown on this site. Say which page you were on, what you were trying to do, and what stopped you. If you are using a screen reader or another assistive tool, telling us which one helps us reproduce the problem.
What happens next?
We reproduce the problem, fix it, and tell you when it is done. If a fix will take a while, we will say so and offer another way to get what you needed in the meantime, which is usually a phone call with someone who can complete the order for you.
